WORLD WATER DAY 2021

World Water Day is annually observed on March 22 to pay attention to the global water crisis. People and organizations every year taken action to tackle the water crisis in different ways. Water is important for every living being on this planet.

Water is a natural resource and it is widely used for both domestic and industrial uses such as drinking, washing, cooking, etc. Earth is also known as a blue planet because of the vastness of water presence. There are various sources of water such as rivers, lakes, oceans, big dams, etc. but only 1-2 % of water is suitable for humans.

World Water Day History

This day was first formally proposed in Agenda 21 of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. In December 1992, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/47/193 by which 22 March of each year was declared as World Day for Water.

This year World Water Day theme 2021 is ‘Valuing Water’. World Water Day is about what water means to people, its value, and how we can protect this essential life resource.

  • Do not run more water than necessary while doing daily chores.

  • Do not prolong your bathing, have a quick shower.
