Novak Djokovic disqualified in US Open
World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic was declared disqualified in the pre-quarter-final of the US Open on Sunday. Djokovic of Serbia was facing Pre-quarter finalist Spain’s Pabelle Carreno Busto. Djokovic trailed 5-6 in the first set.
In this annoyance, he hit a shot that directly hit the female officer in the neck. After this, the woman had difficulty breathing for some time. However, Djokovic reached out to the woman to know her health. But after some time the woman got up and walked out of the court. After this, the match referee also talked to Djokovic after discussing among themselves and Djokovic was disqualified.

Djokovic third player to be disqualified
Djokovic is the third player from Serbia to be disqualified in Grand Slam history. Prior to Djokovic, John Machenro was disqualified from the Australian Open in 1990, and in 2000, Stephen Kuback from the French Open.
Djokovic had the chance to win the 18th Grand Slam
This time Roger Federer of Switzerland and 20 Grand Slam champions, Rafael Nadal of Spain, who won the most 20 Grand Slams, are not playing. This is the first time in 21 years that the two giants are not playing tournaments. Djokovic thus had a chance to win the 18th Grand Slam.

USTA releases statement on Djokovic case
As per US Open rules, if a player injures an official or spectator, he is consequently disqualified along with a penalty. The match referee also found Novak Djokovic guilty. Accordingly, on reaching the pre-quarter match in the tournament, the prize money to Djokovic will be deducted. Also, the ranking points which a player gets, will also be reduced.
