England vs Pakistan: The first Test match of the three-match Test series between England and Pakistan was played in Manchester. In the second innings of this match, England had given a target of 277 runs to England to win. England’s team achieved this target for victory by 7 wickets. With this victory, the visiting team took a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series. Chris Woakes and Jose Butler played a big role in England’s victory. England’s early wickets fell quickly in the second innings, but Vox and Butler handled England’s innings. Butler was dismissed for 75 runs in the second innings, but Vox remained unbeaten after scoring 84 runs. Vox was voted Player of the Match.

In this match, after winning the toss and batting first in the first innings, the Pakistan team scored 326 runs due to Shaan Masood’s century innings. In response, the England team collapsed in front of the Pakistani bowlers in the first innings and the entire team was all out for 219 runs. Pakistan had a significant lead of 107 runs on the basis of first innings. At the same time, the batsmen of Pakistan’s team did not run in the second innings and the whole team could score 169 runs. After this, England had a target of 277 runs to win. England achieved this target with three wickets remaining.

The first blow to England in the second innings. Abbas gave it. He dismissed Rory Burns lbw on a personal score by 10 runs. The partnership between Dom Sibley and Captain Joe Root was broken by Yasir Shah. Sibley was caught by Asad Shafiq after scoring 36 off 114 balls. The wicket of Captain Joe Root was taken by young Nasim Shah in Pakistan’s bag. Playing a 48-run knock off 84 balls, he was caught by Babar Azam. Ben Stokes scored 9 runs off Yashir Khan, while Oli Pope was dismissed by Shahin Afridi for 7 runs. Jose Butler played a brilliant innings of 75 runs and his wicket was taken by Yashir Shah. Broad was dismissed by Yashir Shah for 7 runs.

In the second innings, Yashir Shah got four wickets from Pakistan while Afridi, Abbas and Nasim Shah got one wicket each.

Pakistan’s second innings, batsman did not run

Pakistan opener batsman Shaan Masood had hit a century in the first innings, but he could not show his fire in the second innings. He did not even let Stuart Broad play the account and he held his catch to Jos Buttler on his ball. Abid Ali gave his catch to Vox on the ball of Dom Bess for 20 runs, while Babar Azam lost his wicket at 5 in this innings. He was caught by Chris Woakes in the hands of Stokes. Captain Azhar Ali did not manage to score even in the second innings and he lost his wicket for 18 runs. He was caught by Chris Woakes at the hands of Stokes.

Pakistan’s fifth wicket went as Assad Shafiq. He was run out after scoring 29 runs. Rizwan was dismissed by Ben Stokes for 27 while Shadab Khan was dismissed by Broad for LBW. Shaheen Afridi scored 2 runs off Stokes’ ball. Yashir Shah scored 33 runs while Nasim Shah was dismissed for 4 runs.

England bowlers performed brilliantly in the second innings. Broad took three, Vox and Stokes two each, while Archer and Bess took one each.

England’s first innings, half-century by Ollie Pope

In response to Pakistan’s 326 runs in the first innings, England got their first blow for just 4 runs. Opener batsman Rory Burns was dismissed LBW by Shahin Afridi for 4 runs. Second shock to England Abbas dismissed Sibley for 8 runs. After this, the third wicket was also taken by Abbas and Ben Stokes was clean bowled without opening the account. Team captain Joe Root scored 14 runs and his innings was ended by Yasir Shah. Oli Pope showed a good fight and scored 62 runs and Nasim Khan got him caught by Shadab Khan.

Jos Buttler was dismissed by Yashir Shah for 38 while Chris Woakes was also bowled cleanly by Yashir Shah at 19. Dominic Bess was caught by Yashir Shah for one run. Zofra Archer was caught by Shadab Khan at the hands of Rizwan for 16 runs. James Anderson was dismissed for 7 runs while Broad remained unbeaten on 29 runs. Anderson was dismissed by Shadab Khan.

In the first innings for Pakistan, Yashir Shah scored 4, Mo. Abbas and Shadab Khan scored 2–2 while Shahin Afridi and Naseem Shah scored one each.

Pakistan’s first innings, Shan Masood’s century innings

Pakistan’s team lost their first wicket opener as Abid Ali. Abid Ali was bowled clean by fast bowler Jofra Archer on the score of 16 runs. Team captain Azhar Ali was dismissed LBW by Chris Woakes. Babar Azam batted well, but on the second day of the game he could not go beyond 69 runs and his catch was caught by Joe Root off James Anderson. Asad Shafiq was caught for 7 by Stuart Broad at the hands of Ben Stokes and showed the way to the pavilion.

Pakistan suffered the fifth blow as Mohammad Rizwan. On a personal score of 9, Chris Woakes got caught by Jos Buttler for 9 runs. The sixth wicket of the team fell as Shadab Khan and he played a crucial innings of 45 runs. Shadab gets caught by Dom Bess at the hands of Joe Root. Yashir Shah was dismissed by Jofra Archer LBW for 5 runs while Mo. Abbas was sent to the pavilion without opening an account. Shaan Masood hit 156 and he was out lbw by Stuart Broad.

In the first innings for England, Stuart Broad and Joffra Archer took three, Chris Woakes two, while James Anderson and Dom Bess took one wicket each.
