Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, who had been hospitalized for some time, died on Monday. His son Abhijeet Mukherjee gave this information. He was hospitalized for treatment at the Army Research and Referral Hospital at Delhi Cantt. This morning hospital was reported that, he was under septic shock due to a lung infection. The Government of India has declared a seven-day state mourning on the death of Mukherjee from 31 August to 6 September.

Pranab Mukherjee was in a deep coma and and also was put on ventilator support. Blood pressure stops working in the event of a septic shock and his body fail to get enough oxygen. He was admitted to the Army hospital in Delhi on 10 August. Earlier his corona report also came positive.

Mukherjee admitted for an operation after a blood clot formed in his brain. He was also found Corona infected at the time of hospitalization. He then had respiratory infections. Mukherjee served as the 13th President of India from the year 2012 to 2017. Pranab Mukherjee has two sons and a daughter in his family.

PM Modi expressed grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while condoling the death, Mukherjee said that the whole country is sad today. He tweeted,

In 2012, Pranab Mukherjee became the President of the country. He was the 13th President of India. However, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s first choice for the post was Hamid Ansari. But Mukherjee was the choice of many regional political parties. It also showed that despite political differences, Pranab Mukherjee had acceptance among all political parties.

This dream of ‘PM in waiting’ remained unfulfilled,

Pranab Mukherjee was the strongest contender for the post of Prime Minister in UPA and Congress. He was also known as ‘PM in Waiting’. But in his luck, the address of Rashtrapati Bhavan was written, not the seven Race Course Road. In his book ‘The Coalition Years – 1996-2012’ written on his journey, he himself admitted that he wanted to become Prime Minister.

PM Modi wanted Mukherjee to remain President

as President, he saw the UPA being ousted from power and the BJP forming an absolute majority government. On many occasions he did not back down from praising the Modi government. Prime Minister Modi also wanted him to accept a second term as President. But he denied it, citing age and health.
