Interpol has issued a global arrest warrant against money laundering case against Ami Modi, wife of Nirav Modi, accused in the Punjab National Bank fraud case. A Red Corner notice has been issued at the request of the Enforcement Directorate.
Interpol issued red notice
In this regard, an official said that on the request of Enforcement Directorate, the global police body Interpol has issued a ‘Red Notice’. Once such notice is issued against the fugitive, Interpol asks its 192 member countries to arrest or detain the person when they are seen in their countries. After this, the extradition or deportation proceedings begin.

Let it be known that earlier the judicial custody of fugitive diamond businessman Nirav Modi in the PNB fraud case was extended in Britain. Modi is facing trial for extradition to India. Nirav Modi has alleged fraud of about two thousand crore rupees with Punjab National Bank. Various investigative agencies in India have registered cases against him. Modi’s aide Mehul Choksi is also wanted in India in this case.
Ami Modi absconding since the matter came to light
According to information, Ami Modi has left the country after an alleged case of bank fraud in 2018. The ED has accused Ami Modi of husband Nirav Modi, besides her relative Mehul Choksi and others under the PMLA. Nirav Modi is currently in a UK jail after being arrested in London in March 2019.
