Quetta. Health care workers around the world are god forms. Those who are saving people from the epidemic like Corona virus, but Pakistan is seeing a different view about these. Police in Pakistan have arrested doctors and medical personnel who are protesting against inadequate personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical equipment in their fight to prevent the spread of fatal novel coronovirus infections.

Dawn Akhwar quoted Pakistan’s Young Doctors Association (YDA) President Dr Yasir Achakzai as saying that the YDA and paramedical staff in Balochistan had on Monday protested against the unavailability of PPE in their fight against the corona virus.

They were also lathichargeed by security forces and dozens were arrested near the Red Zone. Deputy Inspector General of Police of Razzaq Cheema, Quetta, confirmed that police had arrested dozens of protesting doctors who were arbitrary.

Subsequently, YDA halted its services in government hospitals. Khan said, “We are suspending all our services after police persecution”. In a tweet, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that he has met YDA doctors and asked them to cooperate fully in their government’s fight against COVID-19 and assured to fulfill their demands.

He tweeted, ‘I personally had a meeting and met the doctors of YDA … and assured that we will resolve the staff issue of their contract. Assured that we are serious in resolving the rest of the cases. There have been 3600 cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan. Punjab province has the highest number of 1,816 cases.
