State Bureau, Kolkata. Coronavirus. To fight Corona, the Central Government immediately gave a grant of 25 thousand crores to Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday demanding this. Also, Mamta has said that the state owes the state 36 thousand crore rupees. This amount should also be received immediately to help fight the corona. In the letter, he has written that in the present state of Corona, the state government itself is bearing the expenses of all social projects from the salary of its employees. However, due to Corona, the state’s revenue has reduced by 11000 crores.
He wrote that due to the lockdown, like other states, we too are caught in financial crisis. Revenue collection is closed. There is no business in the state. Amidst these problems, salaries and pensions have been arranged for government employees. While other states are reducing the salaries of government employees, we have not yet walked that path. Mamta has written that the state owes the state 36 thousand crore rupees. The situation in Corona is worsening throughout the country. At this time if the outstanding rupee is found then it can be spent in different areas.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had sought financial help from the Center to compensate for the damage caused by floods and cyclones, long before Corona was created. But that time did not help. However, when Corona was facing serious situation in the country, the central government has given Rs 1090.68 crore towards the financial help of the said floods and cyclones. Meanwhile, the central government has created a health fund of 15,000 crore to deal with corona. However, the central government is not only giving this money to Bengal, but also to states like Maharashtra, Bihar. The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for help. But now Mamta has demanded 25 thousand crores.
