New York, PTI. New York city of Corona virus infection has proved to be the second epicenter of America after Wuhan city of China. Here, the number of people who died due to infection of Covid-19 is increasing continuously. Meanwhile, a New York Times report said that the corona virus infection in New York brought travelers not from Asia, but possibly from Europe.
The report said that in New York, which had become the epicenter of the corona virus, the infection had been spreading for several weeks before the first positive case was revealed in March. New York Times research showed that outbreaks of the Kovid-19 infection could be detected, provided an intensive screening program was conducted. According to the report, the first case of Covid-19 was reported in New York on March 1, but it started spreading in the state from mid-February. This transition brought travelers not from Asia, but mainly from Europe.
“The majority of people are clearly travelers from Europe,” said Herm Van Bakel, a geneticist at the Ichan School of Medicine in Mount Sinai, a co-researcher for the study. Another study by the NYU Grossman School of Medicine also drew similar conclusions. President Donald Trump on 31 January prohibited entry of foreign nationals returning from China, but the entry of passengers from most European countries was banned on 11 March.
Here, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the epidemic appears to be stabilizing. 779 people have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from Covid-19 to 6,268 in New York State. The previous highest number of deaths was on Monday, 731 people died that day. New York is the most affected by the deadly corona virus epidemic in the US, where deaths are nearly half of the nationwide deaths. The governor said that despite the increase in deaths, the rate of hospitalized patients is decreasing due to social restrictions. According to Johns Hopkins University at 8:30 pm on Wednesday, 1973 deaths from the Corona virus were recorded in the US for the second consecutive day, taking the total number of deaths in the US to 14,695.
