Beijing, PTI. 95 Chinese police officers and 46 medical staff were killed in the fight against the Corona virus epidemic. Chinese media on Saturday revealed for the first time the casualties of the officers fighting against the global health crisis. China on Saturday held a national memorial for the martyrs and victims of coronovirus outbreaks.

There were 81,639 reported cases of corona virus (COVID-19) in China. Of which 3,326 deaths have been confirmed, most of which are from the epicenter of Hubei province and its capital Wuhan, where the deadly virus originated late last year. As of Thursday, a total of 60 border police officers and 35 assistant police officers have lost their lives on the fighting front, official media quoted the Chinese Ministry of Public Security as saying.

As of 15 March, at least 46 medical staff have sacrificed their lives due to the infection. Earlier, Chinese officials said that more than 3,000 medical staff contracted the virus. China has deployed 42,000 medical staff in Hubei and built 14 temporary hospitals to accommodate the increasing cases. Hubei Province has so far confirmed 67,803 cases including 50,008 in Wuhan.
