Colombo, IANS The first death from corona virus has been confirmed in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Ministry of Health said that a 60-year-old man infected with the corona virus has died while undergoing treatment at the National Infectious Disease Hospital on the outskirts of Colombo. This is Sri Lanka’s first death due to an outbreak of the Corona virus, reports Xinhua.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement on Saturday that the person who died due to corona virus was transplanted a few years ago and was admitted to the National Infectious Disease Hospital after he was recently infected with corona virus.

At the same time, the number of infected people has increased to 113 after five new cases of corona virus were reported in Sri Lanka on Saturday. Apart from this, so far nine patients suffering from the virus have been discharged from the hospital.

A total of 199 people suspected of corona virus have been kept under surveillance in several hospitals across the country. Sri Lanka has imposed a nationwide curfew to stop the spread of the virus. Under this, people have been banned from moving out of their homes.
