New Delhi Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla spoke to US Deputy Foreign Minister Stephen E. Biegun over the phone regarding the corona virus. India has decided to send the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to the US and many other countries amid growing demands due to the corona epidemic. This is the first high-level dialogue between India and the US.
Government sources said that talks between Shringla and Biegun discussed promoting cooperation to combat and control the epidemic. The two countries committed to share ways and other information on prevention of corona virus infection. It is noteworthy that India had earlier banned the export of hydroxychloroquine in view of domestic consumption.
On this, US President Donald Trump spoke of retaliation. However, India rejected it and said that it would fulfill its needs first and then give medicines to other countries. This medicine is believed to be effective in the treatment of corona infection.
