Rawalpindi, ANI. The case of corona virus in Pakistan is increasing continuously. On Saturday, the number of infected patients in the country has increased to 1500. The Pakistani Army has announced the deployment of troops across the country to prevent the spread of the corona virus (COVID-19) and assist civilians.
Army Public Affairs Spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar said in a press conference on Saturday that Pakistani Army personnel would be deployed across the country to assist civilians under Article 245. However, Iftikhar did not mention in his address how many troops would be deployed to deal with the threat of corona virus. He said that troops and all medical resources would be deployed as per the requirement.
The deployment of the army was approved by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on 23 March at the request of the Interior Ministry, according to Dawn News. The Government of India including Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and POK under Article 245 of the Constitution (Functions of the Armed Forces) and Section 131 (A) of the CrPC (Power to use military force for maintenance of public safety and law and order) All four provinces had asked for deployment of troops.
Describing the Army’s commitment in the fight against the Corona virus, General Babar Iftikhar said that the ISPR has also taken into account the situation on the Line of Control and the borders with other countries while taking the decision. He said that more than 12,000 people have been screened in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, the army has urged civilians to stay at home and not to leave without necessary reasons. All modes of public transport have been discontinued across the country until further notice. ISPR has also announced the postponement of international flights until 4 April.

The team will remain in Pakistan for two weeks and will help doctors and health experts deal with the epidemic.
