On Saturday, police used force to dislodge protesters outside Portland’s federal buildings after demonstrations by right-wing and leftist groups turned violent. There are several federal buildings in the area and the area has witnessed many protests over the past few months. Protests in Portland have not stopped since the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

Local media reported that protests began on Saturday afternoon near the Maltonomah County Justice Center in Oregon’s largest city. The protesters started pelting stones at each other and within a short time violence erupted there. Meanwhile, the roads there were also blocked. For the past few weeks, the Justice Center has been the target of clashes between the police and leftist groups during night-time demonstrations. On Saturday afternoon, the protesters moved to other areas, taking out the march. Right-wing groups announced a rally near the Justice Center, after which anti-leftist groups erupted.
