New Delhi In order to lighten the tension of the ongoing lockdown period on Coronavirus COVID 19, the Central Government has started broadcasting Ramayana on DD National channel of Doordarshan. The Ramayana is being broadcast at 9 am and 9 pm. Its star cast has once again hit the headlines due to the recalcitrance of the Ramayana after nearly 30 years. Arun Govil who plays Ram, Sunil Lahiri as Laxman, Arvind Trivedi as Ravana and Deepika Chikhaliya playing Sita are back in the news. Currently let you know about Deepika.
Deepika started her film career in the early 80s. However, she did not get as much fame from films as Sita of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. This character took Deepika from door to door. Characters like Ram and Sita were first seen on the small screen. As much as people saw the Ramayana with reverence, these artists were seen with the same devotion.
This immense popularity from Ramayana brought Deepika to Parliament. In 1991, she reached Parliament by winning elections from Vadodara on a BJP ticket. Deepika took a long break from films after 1994. In a conversation with Jagran.com, Deepika had said- ‘I have been very busy in my life and I have not got the time to think that I am missing something. I was happy with the wedding and the children, I enjoyed those moments. When my younger daughter was in tenth standard, I still got a serial offer which I refused with great affection. Because my daughters have been my priority ‘. And when I made up my mind to comeback, then offers also came to me. So I have not missed anything! ‘
Before Ramayana, Deepika had played very bold roles in films, but she stopped doing such roles to become Sita. When asked about the casting couch in this interview, Deepika said – ‘Casting couch has always been and always will be in the industry. Because it has become a necessity. Someone needs a role and they are ready, what can one do to be a part of it? This is his personal matter. ‘ Deepika has become active in Bollywood once again. In 2019, viewers will see her in the role of Yami Gautam’s mother in Ayushmann Khurrana’s film Bala. (Photo-Instagram)
