Vaccination of BCG enhances the immune system. Researchers at Redboud University in the Netherlands are preparing to test humans.

Washington, AFP. Amidst the corona epidemic, this question is being asked repeatedly whether the BCG vaccine used for decades can protect health workers from infection. Researchers are studying the potential benefits of a BCG vaccine that protects against TB. Camille Koch of the French Public Health Research Institute said that we have known for decades that the BCG vaccine keeps a person away from diseases for which it was not designed.

She says that children who have received BCG vaccine suffer less from respiratory diseases. This vaccine is also used in the treatment of cancer. It also protects against diseases like type-1 diabetes and asthma. Researchers want to test whether this vaccine can also protect a person from corona virus infection or reduce its effects. Camille Koch, who is finalizing the approval of the BCG vaccine clinical trial, said that if it results in good results, it will be given first to health workers. However, experts are still not unanimous about its impact.

Meanwhile, a professor at Redboud University in the Netherlands has said that the vaccine will be used on 500 health workers and it will be encouraging if good results are found. A research from the university reported that the BCG vaccine does not directly protect against the corona, but enhances the human immune system. Which helps fight an epidemic like corona.
